Wim Tellier: BEE XXL on the beach
On the beach of Knokke-Heist near the Meerlaan you can view six hughe flowers in September. The outdoor art project BEE XXL will take place from 4 to 20 September and is an initiative of the high-profile contemporary artist Wim Tellier. Earlier, he already placed a gigantic photo of a crab in front of the Casino. And two years ago he decorated our salty beach with the word ‘respect’. This time, with BEE XXL, he calls attention to bees as vital animals for the preservation of our biodiversity.
The world famous landscape artist Wim Tellier immediately had a match with Knokke-Heist. As a bee municipality, we pay particular attention to specific flower meadows, and we focus on experiencing nature and healthy air. Moreover, Knokke-Heist has a special landscape and architectural diversity, which you will not find in many other municipalities. That fits perfectly within this project.
Open air art installation on the beach of Knokke-Heist
The world-famous landscape artist has photographed six external flowers in Knokke-Heist in recent months and enlarged them no less than five hundred times. Since the images are completely cut out, you get a frightening effect, almost surreal, but visually impressive. On the other hand, these six flowers are now beautifully brought together in an open-air art installation on the beach of Knokke-Heist during the month of September. Afterwards, enthusiasts can buy a limited edition photo of the integrated flowers.
Registration via QR code
