Iconic fashion photography
In MOØDe, the internationally leading photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn (° 1955) presents images from his rich oeuvre in which he seeks the crossover between photography and the fashion world, embracing the terms ‘mood’ and ‘fashion’ in the broadest sense. .
As in Corbijn’s oeuvre, Knokke-Heist combines art, fashion and good taste. The artistic Belgian seaside town is therefore the ideal place for the world premiere of MOØDe. The exhibition with nearly 200 works, many of which are being shown for the first time, can be seen in a world premiere in Knokke-Heist.
The portraits that Corbijn made of Kate Moss, Alexander McQueen or Naomi Campbell have since acquired iconic status. As visual director behind Depeche Mode and through his decades-long collaboration with U2 and others, he has left a mark on how we view an important piece of contemporary culture.
Photography plays a leading role in the global fashion culture and industry. Photography largely determines how we look at fashion design and photography is used by designers to reinforce their vision and visual identity. The trend-sensitive and ever-changing fashion world collaborates with photographers and visual artists who not only capture reality, but also create it. For photography, the own visual universe of that fashion world is a very rewarding subject.
With MOØDe, Anton Corbijn proves that fashion is everywhere.
