LEON KEER: THE UNCROWNED GRAFFITI-KING OF ANAMORPHIC STREET ART
The city council has managed to entice the renowned street artist Leon Keer for a wonderful artistic 3D project on the Heldenplein. The Dutchman is known worldwide as a grand master of anamorphic street art. His unique oeuvre has taken him around the world: the United States, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Russia, New Zealand, Australia and many European and Asian countries. In his work, the 40-year-old from Utrecht always tries to convey a socially critical message to the public. For example, environmental problems and the quality of life of our planet are often denounced.
From mid-June 2020, Leon Keer will start painting his artworks full of amazing optical illusions on and around the Heroes’ Square. Thanks to his razor-sharp technique, the artist creates intriguing trompe l’oeil effects that involuntarily shake the sense of reality in passers-by.
